The Trial Before Pilate
Those who live in the truth are righteous in their
thinking, speaking and acting (8-9).
The negative forces tried to prevent the Redeemer-deed - "I find no guilt in Him - At all times, the darkness is allowed to test its strength against the light - The power of seeming Christianity is vanishing - The just One suffered for injustice - The cross: symbol of redemption and resurrection or of
defeat (10-32)
1. Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgement, to Pontius Pilate, the governor. It was early, and they did not go into the judgement hall, lest they should be defiled, but so that they could celebrate the feast.
2. Pilate therefore went out to them, saying, "What accusation do you bring against this man? They answered, saying to him, "If He were not a wrongdoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you. We have a law and, according to our law, He must die; because He wants to abolish the customs and habits which Moses commanded of us, yes, He makes of Himself the Son of God.
3. Then Pilate said to them, "So take Him and judge Him according to your law. For he knew that they had delivered Him out of envy.
4. To that the Jews said to him, "The law does not allow us to sentence anyone to death. Thus was fulfilled the word of Jesus, who had said what kind of death He would die.
5. And they accused Him further, saying, "We found this man inciting the people, forbidding them to give tribute to Caesar, saying that He, Himself, is Christ, a king.
6. Then Pilate entered again into the judgement hall and called Jesus and asked Him, "Are You the king of the Jews? Jesus answered him, "Do you say this yourself, or did others say it to you about Me?
7. Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own people and the high priests have delivered You up to me; what have You done? Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My followers would fight, so that I would not be delivered up to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.
8. Then Pilate asked Him, "Are You a king then? Jesus answered: "You say that I Am a king. I was born and came into this world, so that I should bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears My voice.
9. Pilate said to Him, "What is truth? Jesus
said, "Truth comes from heaven. Pilate said, "Then truth is not on
earth. Jesus said to Pilate, "Believe it, the truth is on earth among
those who accept and obey it. Those who are in the truth judge justly. (Chap.
81: 1-9)
I, Christ, explain, correct
and deepen the word:
Verily, "truth comes from heaven. It came to earth through all God-filled prophets and through Me, as Jesus of Nazareth; and it comes through Me, the Christ, and through all those who live in the truth. The truth sets soul and person free. And those who strive for the truth know My voice, the truth.
The Kingdom of God, which I, as Jesus of Nazareth, have proclaimed and wanted to set up with the Jewish people, comes to earth. So it is in the plan of God, as already revealed. Those who live in the truth bring the justice of God, thus rendering the judgement void.
It is written, "Those who are in the truth judge justly. In this time [1989] the word "judge no longer has the meaning which it had generations ago. See in the word "judge here the meaning: to be righteous, faithful and honest. For those who live in God will be righteous in their thinking, speaking and acting.
10. And when he had heard this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, "I do not find any guilt in Him. And when He was accused by the high priests and elders, He did not answer them.
11. Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear, how much they bring forth against You?
12. And He did not answer a single word anymore, so much so that the governor was very astonished. And he again said to them, "I do not find any guilt in this man.
13. And they flew into a rage even more, crying, "He incites the people, teaching in the whole Jewish country, from Galilee to here. But when Pilate heard the name Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilean.
14. And when he heard that He belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
15. When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad; for he had wished to see Him for a long time, because he had heard much about Him and he hoped that he would see a miracle from Him.
16. Then he questioned Him with many words; but He did not answer him. The high priests and scribes stood by and vehemently accused Him, and many false witnesses rose up against Him and charged Him with many things which He did not know.
17. And with his warriors, Herod despised and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a splendid robe and sent Him again to Pilate. And on the same day, Pilate and Herod became friends, for before they were enemies.
18. And Pilate went again into the judgement hall and asked Jesus, "Where do You come from? But Jesus gave him no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not speak to me? Do You not know that I have the power to crucify You and the power to release You?
19. Jesus answered, "You would have no power at all against Me, were it not given you from above; therefore, the one who has delivered Me to you has the greater sin.
20. From then on, Pilate tried to release Him; but the Jews cried out, shouting, "If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's friend; for the one who makes a king of himself speaks against Caesar.
21. And Pilate called together the high priests and the responsible ones of the people. When he had sat down on the judgement seat, his wife sent someone to tell him, "Have nothing to do with this just man; for because of Him I have suffered many things last night in a dream.
22. And Pilate said to them, "You have brought this man to me as being one who incites the people, and behold, I have examined Him before you and have found no guilt in Him about the things you accused Him of. Nor did Herod, to whom I have sent Him, find anything in Him worthy of death.
23. But you have a custom that I should release someone to you for the Passover. Do you now want that I release the king of the Jews to you?
24. Then they cried again in one voice, "Not this man, but Barabbas! But Barabbas was a robber who, because of incitement in the city and a murder, had been cast into prison.
25. But Pilate wanted to release Jesus, and asked them once more, "Which one of the two do you want me to release? Barabbas or Jesus, who is called Christ? And they shouted, "Barabbas!
26. Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do with Jesus who, they say, is Christ? Then they all shouted to him, "Let Him be crucified!
27. And the governor asked, "What evil has He done? But they cried out ever louder, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!
28. And Pilate stepped forward and said to them, "Behold, I bring Him to you again and say to you that I find no guilt in Him. But they cried out again, "Crucify Him, Crucify Him!
29. And Pilate asked them for the third time, "Why? What evil has He done? I have not found in Him any guilt worthy of death. Instead of that, I will have Him lashed and let Him go.
30. But they cried incessantly with loud voices, requiring that He should be crucified. And their voices and those of the high priests were louder than all others.
31. When Pilate saw that he did not have the upper hand, but that a considerable tumult arose, he took water and washed his hands before the people, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just person: See to it yourselves!
32. Then the whole people answered, crying, "His
blood be on us and on our children! And Pilate gave orders that everything should
take place as they required. And he delivered Jesus up to them, according to their will.
(Chap. 81:10-32)
I, Christ, explain, correct
and deepen the word:
Pilate spoke as follows: "I find no guilt in Him. I was not guilty, neither according to the law of God nor according to the law of this world. My incarnated spirit body was immaculate, but was enveloped by a part-guilt of the lineage of David and by the guilt of some others. This moved the negative forces to make use of every possibility and of every active correspondence in the high priests, scribes, elders and in the people, in order to convict Me. For if I had committed only o n e sin, for example, if I had spoken one unlawful word or had defended Myself in any way, then the Redeemer-deed could not have been accomplished.
The part-guilt of those who were and are in the Redeemer-mission - with which I enveloped Myself and which made My capture possible - could not prevent the Deed of Redemption. I, Myself, Christ, would have had to have sinned against My Father. In order to attain this, the negative forces summoned everything. Every Jew who was vulnerable to this was incited by the demonic forces to speak against Me. All the accusations were contrived to bring about Pilate's downfall and, above all, Mine.
With Pilate they were successful. Even though he washed his hands of it, he still fell into sin. Though he was convinced of My innocence, he delivered Me, the innocent, up. Pilate failed the test, for he gave orders against his conviction.
The inner recognition is of little use when the person does not do what he has recognized.
At all times - including today [1989] - those who believe that they have to administer the laws of God stir up the people. They preach indeed the word of God literally, but without actualizing or fulfilling it.
The one who does not live what he proclaims constantly lives in fear of what he teaches to his neighbour without fulfilling it himself. Thus, such people are afraid of their own doctrine, because they feel that what they have not fulfilled turns against them. In this way, and even today, they twist the law of God and use it to their own advantage.
It was the satanic that cried through the scribes, pharisees and elders and also through the Jewish people. The negative forces influenced all the Jews who let themselves be led astray, in order to stir up hatred against Me and bear false witness.
At all times, the opportunity is given to the negative forces to take their measure against the light. It was also this way almost two thousand years ago. The darkness was allowed to try its strength against the light. It could make use of all possibilities to still prevent what was already indicated in the spheres of purification as well as in the atmospheric layer of the earth: redemption through Me, the Christ of God, who became man and, as man, accepted the challenge of the negative forces, so that they could measure themselves against the man Jesus - and thus against the Christ of God, the Co-Regent of the heavens, in the earthly garment.
The persecution of Jesus and handing Him over point to the following:
The one who follows Me will suffer persecution like I did, as Jesus of Nazareth. He will have to endure humiliation and suffering, as I did. For, as they persecuted Me as Jesus of Nazareth, in the almost two thousand years since then, they have repeatedly persecuted, slandered and even killed those who have followed in My footsteps.
The persecution of My true followers is persisting into the present time [1989]. Again and again, it is the same ones who persecute Me in My own; for, despite the "It is finished, I Am still the thorn in the heart of those who want to maintain and expand the Demons' State. In the present time [1989], it is again the scribes and those who are servile to them in the ecclesiastic and worldly authorities. They, too, incite the people with untruths against the followers of the Christ.
Yet, everything comes to an end. What took place in the almost two thousand years
is now bearing its effects and befalls those who, for two thousand years, have continued
to behave as they did at My time as Jesus of Nazareth. Today too, they are afraid to lose
their position and their prestige. But their power is gradually coming to an end - the effects of their causes are breaking in over them.
The position of the negative forces is becoming weaker and weaker. The present scribes, pharisees and authorities of the state and of the church are calling out like drowning people. They sense that the flood which will take them away is already on its way. What was wrongly built up in My name in the course of two thousand years is fading away: a power which indeed called and calls itself Christian, but neither was nor is Christian and which, in many ways, took and takes My name, Christ, in vain.
The New Era is awakening and will arise from the ruins of the past. Through their selfless work, My own will cause the devastated land to blossom again. What is being built up now, in the time of change, and will be completed when the sinfulness on earth is over, is the New Israel - in its centre the New Jerusalem, the covenant-city with its communities in the Kingdom of Peace of Jesus Christ.
Recognize that the statement "You would have no power at all against Me, were it not given you from above; therefore, the one who has delivered Me to you has the greater sin means that the darkness has power solely over those who have darkened the light of the Eternal and keep it darkened. My eternal Father allowed My capture because I interceded for the lineage of David and for others and suffered for the many Jews who wanted to have a king of this world. In the end, it happened for all souls as well as for all human beings who have sinned and sin against the law of life: The just One suffered for the injustice and endured the fact that what happened to Him was what He Himself had not caused.
The powers of the heavens did not rush to My help as much as they could have done, if the lineage of David and others had not slept as a result of their sin and if the Jewish people had accepted Me as their Messiah and the builder of the Kingdom of God on earth. I would have been their king - however, not for this world, but for the Kingdom of God on earth, for a world in which the laws of God would have been fulfilled.
"Not this man, but Barabbas! means that the blind ones and the demons keep the blind ones blind. Only the spiritually blind ones can blind and incite them even more, so that these blindly cry and rage and demand the just One instead of the unjust one.
They cried "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!
Only the one who himself still hangs on the cross of his sins calls, "Crucify Him, crucify Him. The one who has crucified himself through sin sees only through the eye of sin and wants to see all people where he himself is: on the cross of sin.
The cross was raised with the body of Jesus, but the body was taken from the cross, and the resurrected One showed and revealed Himself. This means that I, Christ, Am the resurrected life in all souls and men.
The true Christian sees the cross without the crucified One as the symbol of redemption and as the resurrection in God. The cross without the body also symbolizes the path from earth into heaven, to the heart of God. Only t h a t person who has not yet crucified his ego and wants to hold on to his humanness looks at the cross with the crucified One.
The demons made the cross with the body. With that, they want to symbolize My defeat. Yet the cross and the crucified One became and are t h e i r cross and their defeat.
The true Christian remembers My resurrection, since he is resurrected in Me and through Me. Only the one who is not yet consciously resurrected in Me, the Christ, mourns My death as Jesus. The one who is not yet consciously resurrected in Me, that is, who still lives in sin, cries out again and again, "Crucify Him, crucify Him! Therefore, those people who still cherish their sins, who treasure their base ego, cherish the cross with the body.
The person who loves his sin and this sinful world thinks of the crucified One and not of the resurrected One, since he himself is not yet resurrected in Me.
"His blood be on us and on our children! means that every cause already
bears the effect in itself. Each person who creates causes must himself bear the effect.
Thus, the one who sows will harvest his seed - in this
incarnation or in future ones. And so, the same ones come to earth again and again as
children, until what they have caused has been atoned for.
